Outsource CNC milling: drawing in, price indication out
Getting a milled part made usually means sending the drawing around, waiting for three quotes and then another call about the tolerances. With 1TurnAhead you upload the drawing or STEP file and see a price indication straight away. An engineer reviews it, then you get the final quote.
What we mill
Prismatic parts: blocks, plates, housings, flanges, brackets and fixtures. Pockets, slots, boring, tapping and reaming, face and contour milling. 3-, 4- and 5-axis milling at our European partners, plus turned parts with milled features (wrench flats, keyways, cross holes) in the same request.
How the price is built
From your STEP we take the part volume, the material to remove and the features. From the PDF drawing we read material, tolerances, surface roughness and the general tolerance (ISO 2768). From that we calculate raw stock, setups, setup time and machining time. Tight tolerances or anything we are unsure about go to an engineer first instead of quietly ending up in the price.
Materials
Aluminium (including 6082 and 7075), structural and quenched-and-tempered steel, stainless 304 and 316, tool steel, brass, titanium and engineering plastics. Material not listed? Put it on the drawing and we will sort it out.
Prototype or series
One-off or repeat series: setup time is spread over the quantity, so you see right away what a larger batch saves per part.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need to supply a STEP file?
- For milled parts a STEP gives the most accurate price. A PDF drawing alone works too; we read the dimensions from the drawing and an engineer reviews it.
- Is the price final straight away?
- No, it is a price indication. An engineer checks the request and you then receive the final quote.
- Can turning and milling be combined in one part?
- Yes. A turned part with wrench flats, a keyway or cross holes is requested in one go.
- Where are the parts made?
- At certified manufacturing partners in Europe. We handle partner selection, quality control and documentation.
